dinosaur

Wow what a winter of 2015/2016. Long but not too cold and an absence of white stuff for sculpting.

This is my one and only snow sculpture of the season.

Many people stopped and took pictures with it.

The dinosaur was huge and kids of all ages liked it.

Done in the afternoon on a day of celebration as someone special was coming home. Yeah!

This was done in the front yard.

A symbol to make passer bys smile and want to dance.

The penguin  was created in the evening and had a bow tie and buttons as was suggested by fellow tenants.

Buddha Head

This was a optimal evening for sculpture.

I was itching to make one for so long but the conditions did not allow.

As the temps were perfect i wanted to stay out and play.

The crown was made of ice cream scoops. This one was time consuming and worth every scoop.

I was thinking a Buddha symbol in the yard would create a peace, i believe it did… unfortunately it was a short lived moment.

Mother nature is unforgiving.

cold sleep

cold sleep

Winter blahs all around.

Cold, cold and more cold.

Sleep and hibernation are in order. 2014 was not a stellar winter for sculpture, nonetheless i sculpted at night and she slept in the yard. Whilst i slept every opportunity i had.

humpty dumpty

Oh this winter has been long and we’ve had our share of snow, that’s for sure.

On this beautiful sunny day itching to do something as the conditions were perfect for sculpting,  Humpty Dumpty came to life.

Humpty Dumpty is usually visualized with clothes on … this was my interpretation.

This nursery rhyme reflects the frailty of life. A lesson that we must be aware of as it is a reality.

He was pretty for a day then the sun removed his arms and legs…

Hoping that the sun warms Hanlan’s soon as i’d rather be playing in the sand on the little paradise a few of us know.

Siblings not to be forgotten. Heck, growing up together, so much history and many celebrations.

One day i asked my youngest bro,” what sculpture would you like to see?”  “An owl” he replied.

On his birthday he got his wish. Conditions were good although the snow kept piling on top so details got covered quite quickly. A little maintenance was needed.

Kibbe was tall and big, could be seen from 10 storeys high.  With this cold kibbe is sure to last.

Happy birthday !!! and here’s to lasting a long time bro!

Deli is a bear.

He was made on a busy street so there was some distractions and… got complaint against me for making sculptures so close to ladies home. She’s 93,so what do you do. Knock on her door and introduce yourself and remember that we must respect people limits and space. I was told to ask next time.

Nonetheless, i also met Julia and she wants to play in the snow. She actually helped with an arm.

The subjects have been a little sterile. I need an outlet where i can be a little naughtier sometimes.

But the joy a large teddy bear brings to the faces, priceless.

First sculpture of 2014.  Snow has been amazing , but perfect conditions are rare. It must be around the zero mark to pack and winds have to be calm.

When a sculpture takes 4 to 5 hours i must say summer sculptures are a little more tolerable.

Tea is a must and bundle up. Waterproof is great but clothing usually has to be changed because of the hot cold factor.

Man in shell was made at night as conditions were perfect until the rain came. He remained for days and even iced.

Many of us live in shells as they protect us, remove them and the burden of carrying excesses . Free yourself from the shell and show your true self.

discreet nudity

Why be discreet? Well working in public spaces and not wanting to be offensive.

The world remains funny about nudity. Not everywhere but most places.

A shame , if we were all au natural we may have a better attitude and acceptance of bodies and skin.

No one is perfect, or perhaps no one thinks they are perfect, rather all of us are perfectly imperfect.

She came alive on a gorgeous night. I was sculpting and hearing the icicles fall off the church roof.

The lights allowed me to see and playing at night is awesome.

Karina is dedicated to someone very special and dear to me.

She cares about what is important and shows love over and over again in her actions.  Absolutely beautiful.

Polar bears must continue… thinking that with all this cold, ice &  snow they will  flourish for they are magnificent creatures.
