I experimented with different colours of sand and the beading was done with rocks and stones from the beach – the possibilities are endless, there’s so many things you can make out of sand and in so many ways

 I had the participation of a number of the ladies on the beach (as I’ve never had this experience).  I think the shape and slight distortion of body really help to capture a moment

Made on a platform – he had a snail at his tail and was textured by the edges of rocks.

This was an experiment with faces, was a very trying day because I was cramping – but I survived and finished my sculpture.

Celestina was a tad controversial because she was such a young subject – and lying on a coffin, but the end result was that she was peaceful … and even received flowers from Margarethe

Arrived at the beach early – it was an overcast day, looked like rain.  Therefore it was quiet – took the sand from two previous sculptures and this was the result.  The rocks I found for teeth even had cavities!

She was adorable, had her own bed.  We found her a headboard for her bed – better than the ‘Don’t Pay a Cent’ deal offered by Leon’s.
